FAQ

Why does it say “App not installed” when I install the APK?

This usually happens because the APK version is not compatible with your TV system, or because an older version is already installed and causing a conflict. Download the TV version or a universal APK again, uninstall the old version first, and clear enough storage space before installing.

ReasonSolution
The APK architecture is not compatible.Make sure you downloaded a universal APK that supports armeabi-v7a.
Signature conflict or not enough storage space. If an older version was installed before, uninstall it first; also check your TV storage space.
The app does not support the TV system. Some mobile games simply do not support running on TV.
Why does the app crash right after it opens, even though it installed successfully?

This usually means the APK may be a mobile version and is not adapted for Android TV. Download the TV version first. If it still crashes, try clearing the app cache, restarting the TV, or switching to another version.

ReasonSolution
The APK is a mobile app and is not compatible with Android TV.Make sure you downloaded the TV version or a version adapted for Android TV.
The app requires Google Play Services, but your TV does not have it.Check that Google Play Services is enabled on your TV.
The app crashes or is not compatible with the TV GPU.Go to “Settings → Apps” on your TV, find the app, and clear its cache before trying again.
Why was the APK downloaded to my phone instead of my TV?

If you tap the download button in a phone browser, the APK will be saved locally on your phone by default and will not automatically appear on your TV. You can download it again in a TV browser, or use a transfer tool such as Send Files to TV or LocalSend to send the APK from your phone to your TV.

ReasonSolution
A cross-device sync feature may be in use.If you are using a sync service such as Chrome Sync, turn it off.
The operation was mixed up between devices.Operate directly on the TV, and do not push the download task from your phone.
Why can’t I find the app on the TV home screen after installation?

Many mobile APKs do not include an entry for the TV home screen, so they may not appear on the TV homepage after installation. You can go to “Settings → Apps → See all apps” to find it, or open the sideloaded app with a TV file manager or a third-party launcher.

ReasonSolution
The mobile APK does not have an Android TV Leanback Launcher entry.Go to “Settings → Apps → See all apps” to find and launch it; or install a third-party launcher such as Sideload Launcher or TV App Repo; you can also reopen the APK through the TV file manager.
Is it safe to download from third-party APK websites?

The quality of third-party APK websites varies. Some may contain misleading ad buttons, outdated files, or security risks. Download from the app’s official website, Google Play, or a recommended APK platform whenever possible, and check that the file name, version number, and file size look normal.

ReasonSolution
The safety of the third-party APK download site is uncertain. The download page should include the version number, update date, APK size, and installation instructions. Download from an official link whenever possible.
Why do I need to enable the “unknown apps” permission during installation?

This is a security feature in Android TV that prevents apps from being installed without permission. Follow the prompt to go to Settings, then allow the current browser, file manager, or transfer tool to install unknown apps.

What should I do if I can’t find the APK file after downloading it?

APK files are usually saved in the Download folder, the Downloads folder, or the receiving folder of the transfer tool. Open the browser download history, or use a file manager such as File Commander or X-plore File Manager to find and install it.

Why can’t I click the Install button with the remote, or control the app after opening it?

This usually happens because the APK is a mobile app and its interface is not adapted for TV remote controls. You can temporarily use a Bluetooth mouse or USB mouse, but switching to a version that supports Android TV is recommended.
